Getting help with Kalaam

Kalaam is built for families and caregivers supporting children who communicate with pictures, phrases, routines, and typed speech.

Before Contacting Support

Voice And Typed Speech

Picture-card, phrase, and routine audio is bundled with Kalaam and plays locally. The Type page uses the text-to-speech voice installed on the phone or tablet. Kalaam does not send typed speech to a Kalaam server or runtime cloud speech provider in the current release plan.

Voice quality can vary by device, operating system, selected language, and installed voices. If typed speech sounds robotic, check the device's spoken-content or text-to-speech settings and download a better local voice for the selected language when the device offers one.

Kalaam only shows separate voice choices when the device exposes distinct usable voices for the selected language. If Kalaam shows Device voice, the device did not provide a trustworthy local male/female pair for that language.

Some Android families may improve typed speech by installing a compatible system text-to-speech engine, but Kalaam does not require or officially recommend a specific third-party engine for launch.

Useful Details To Include

Deleting Local Data

Custom symbols and parent-recorded voices are stored locally. Delete custom content from the app where deletion controls are available, or delete Kalaam from the device to remove local app data managed by the operating system.

Medical Disclaimer

Kalaam is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional clinical care. Families should use Kalaam alongside the support of parents, caregivers, teachers, and licensed professionals when appropriate.
